Teen Cafe - Concentration
Teen cafe is a space for teenagers to come together share, explore and learn about life. Every week the group decides the topic of the session. This week it was 'Concentration'

CONCENTRATION Session blog
It was the next Saturday again and it was my turn to host the meeting and I was super anxious about it as my partner wasn’t replying on time and there was when I got a chance to develop my patience . I had already hosted a session previously but then I was still nervous enough . We had stuff done till the last minute also . To our surprise we had few people joining In today which was a little disheartening for me .
We started off with 2 games which pumped us all . First we played DO WHAT I SAY and the second one we played WHISPER CHALLANGE which was super fun and personally for me it was like a stability test of my concentration levels . The best part is when we all share our experience doing the activity where we can’t express it in words and try figuring it out .
We carried it forward with asking ourselves 2 questions
1. WHY DO WE NEED CONCENTRATION ?
2. WHAT ARE SOME WAYS WE CAN IMPROVE PUR CONCENTRATION?
I had assumed that it would be only a normal discussion like it does happen in normal classes . But I ended up getting many action points that even I can apply in my life .
I would like to share a few examples we spoke about too .
- Connect to nature for calmness which might help in concentrating
- Make the activity or task fun and interesting
- Eating food
- Writing journals
- Giving space for our emotions
- Good sleep pattern
- Take breaks to get better concentration
- Listen to music
- Taking a stroll down the street
- Breakdown your activity into small parts so that it doesn't become boring .
- Focus on your breathing
We tried exploring a 10 min meditation (https://youtu.be/j7d5Plai03g) journey which had a very heavy impact on all of us. I was going through a lot of emotions , I could feel where the tension was being formed and where I was feeling the respective emotions. I felt like apologising some people for certain reasons , being grateful for the Mother Earth and the components of nature . I was still processing that I was feeling so many things , many temporary changes were happening . We ended this beautiful yet fulfilling session with a closing round where we shared our overall experience and takeaway that we would implement in our lives . So amazing to see how we had started our session with full energy and ended with calming and reflective meditation
